Concourse A, Gerald R Ford International Airport
As part of the recent Concourse A expansion at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, a range of public art installations were integrated to enhance the traveler experience and reflect the character of West Michigan.
The project includes:
-
Terrazzo Art: Four local artists—George Eberhardt III, Kim Nguyen, Maureen Nollette, and Michael Pfleghaar—were commissioned to design custom terrazzo flooring. Each piece reflects elements of the region’s natural beauty and culture.
-
Murals: A series of large-scale wall artworks were created throughout the concourse, adding color and illustrating a visual journey from Lake Michigan to Grand Rapids.
-
Suspended Art – Facets by Jeffrey Augustine Songco: Installed in Concourse A, Facets features three large-scale, site-specific suspended sculptures made up of hundreds of strands of colorful, multi-sided shapes. The work brings energy, movement, and a playful elegance to the space above.
